If you were to dedicate a Bodleian Libraries chair, what would your chair say?

The Weston Library, formerly the New Bodleian, opened after extensive redevelopment in March 2015.

Our award winning new chairs are a testament to the Bodleian Libraries’ continued commitment to creating well designed and highly considered environments for a most treasured asset, the Reader. A unique group of historic chairs have supported Bodleian readers over centuries as they spent hours absorbed and inspired by our breath-taking Special Collections ... J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy Hodgkin, C.S. Lewis, Oliver Sacks, Bruce Chatwin and thousands more. For only the third time since 1756 a new chair has been commissioned, this time specifically for the Weston Library.

Please note that all reading room chairs have now been dedicated, but there is still an opportunity to dedicate a lecture theatre chair in the Weston Library’s prestigious lecture theatre.

First make your dedication by sending an email to development@bodleian.ox.ac.uk. Tell us your choice of words for your dedication(s), (maximum of 46 characters, not including spaces, for each dedication). We will confirm your dedication by email.

After you have sent us your dedication, please make your donation towards a lecture theatre chair below. All gifts will support the Bodleian Libraries’ area of greatest need.
