A gift in your will to the Bodleian Library

thomas bodley Founded in 1602 after the University’s original library was destroyed by sectarian conflict, today the Bodleian is flagship and fountainhead of Oxford’s 120 distinguished libraries. It is a truly international treasure, used by students, researchers and academics from around the globe.

My wife is as pleased as I am to think that, after we have gone, Bodley’s great library will get some benefit from what we have left behind us

A gift in your will can help us meet the challenges of the 21st century, and realise our aspirations for the Bodleian's future:

  • housing and conserving our priceless collections
  • building and cataloguing our holdings
  • enhancing the environment and services for readers
  • providing global access to scholars in a digital age

Recognising your generosity

Bodley’s Circle was established in 2003 to recognise those who pledge a gift in their will to the Bodleian. Members receive an annual newsletter, and regular opportunities to learn about the collections and work ‘behind the scenes’ at the Library from specialist Library staff.
