Why Sport Matters and Why Oxford Sport Needs Your Help Now?
Oxford Sport means many different things to many different people. For some it is a springboard to Olympic fame, while for others it can be an all consuming task to beat Cambridge, valuable recreation time for students and staff during hectic academic programmes, or a chance to try a new sport from within our broad portfolio of 87.
Sport at Oxford is all this and much more. We are convinced that sport at Oxford is complementary to our central academic mission. This pursuit of a rounded education through sport frequently helps our students develop the life skills, confidence and well being to succeed in study, society and within the workplace.
We need your support now. Our indoor facilities at Iffley Road are over 45 years old and are woefully inadequate for the enormous demands being placed on them by a dramatically increased population and diversity of sports being played. Our students cannot currently train and perform to their optimum and we urgently need to ensure that this does not negatively affect their Oxford experience.
