Founded in 1873, Oxford University Cycling Club (OUCC) is believed to be the oldest student cycling club in the world. Alumni include professional athletes like Claire Rose, the 2017 National Time Trial Champion.

Cycling is an expensive sport. To be competitive, our mountain bikers must push the limits of every corner, jump and berm – with equipment getting worn out through the testing UK winters. Meanwhile, our road riders race over a 25-mile time trial.

The performance improvements available with even modest investments in OUCC could mean the difference between winning and losing a Varsity match, especially in time trialling. Upgrading to a high-quality skinsuit from a standard jersey and shorts can save an athlete 2 minutes on a 25-mile course potentially making a difference between 1st and 10th place.

With your support, OUCC would be able to do the following:

  • £10 will buy race entry for a rider to gain crucial race experience
  • £30 will provide a rider with a Varsity race-specific tyre/chain
  • £100 will purchase team kit for a rider to represent Oxford in competition
  • £200 will buy the fastest kit to compete in the Varsity races
  • £300 will buy specific race equipment such as time trial wheels
  • £500 will help subsidise riders on training camps, like our annual January trip to Spain
  • £1,000 will buy complete performance equipment, from bikes to wheelsets
  • £2,000 will pay for professional coaching, making sure we get the best out of every training session
