History has been taught in Oxford since 1622 and the Faculty aims to be a world leader in every sphere: outstanding undergraduate teaching, meticulous graduate training and supervision, and innovative research and publications. The Faculty is rightly celebrated for the broad chronological sweep of its courses, with students able to focus on any part of British, European and Global History, from the last years of the Roman Empire to modern Japan.

In our pursuit of excellence the impact of philanthropy is greatly appreciated. Donations from our supporters, gratefully received, are used to support the Faculty’s priorities, which centre on keeping the Faculty at the forefront of teaching and research excellence. We aim to endow and create new posts to attract world-leading academics, and provide financial support for talented students to study at the Faculty, from scholarships and bursaries to smaller undergraduate prizes. The wide scope of our priorities can be supported by gifts at any level, from a small monthly standing order to making a larger gift.
