The University of Oxford is delighted to announce that Mr Bjorn Saven, Founder Chairman of IK Investment Partners and Honorary Fellow of Harris Manchester College, has donated a very generous sum to support graduate students at the University.
The Saven European Scholarships are available for students from eligible European countries who receive an offer of a place to study at master’s or DPhil level. The scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and/or potential and the first Saven Scholars will commence their studies in the academic year 2019-20.
In addition to this funding for graduate scholars, Mr Saven has also made generous donations in support of a number of other areas of work at Oxford, including Harris Manchester College; student-led projects in the fields of art, film and theatre; Brasenose College; and the research of Dr Dieter Helm, Professor of Energy Policy at Oxford.
Commenting on his European Scholarship programme, Mr Saven says: ‘It is both timely and an honour to provide postgraduate scholarships to Oxford University for able students from across Europe and to support the University in other ways. I look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Oxford University and to meeting the first group of Saven Scholars.’
Professor Louise Richardson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, says: ‘Support for graduate scholarships is a strategic priority for the University. We are delighted that, thanks to the generosity of Mr Saven, many of the very best graduate students from across Europe will be able to pursue their studies here at Oxford.’
Eligible countries for the scholarship are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Sweden.
