Regent’s offers a unique dissenting voice at the heart of Oxford.

With roots in London, the College grew out of several ventures by British Baptists to provide an education in the Liberal Arts to those whose access to higher learning was limited by their religious background until legislative change in 1854. Following a spell as a college of the University of London, Regent’s moved to Oxford in the 1920s and became a Permanent Private Hall in 1957.

The Regent’s community is now more diverse than ever before, but its radical dissenting spirit continues to be embodied by generations of students and staff pushing the boundaries of representation and inclusion. The College has award-winning tutors encouraging their students to aim high and providing excellent academic support, as well as researchers bearing witness to the value of the Humanities in higher education and society, exploring the essence of a fully liveable life and a civilised world.
